Finding a fit that feels right
At a fitting, consider seam placement, bodice support and room to walk, sit and raise your arms. A useful fit feels secure without constant adjustment and lets you take part in the day comfortably.
If you are considering alterations, first assess the gown’s base fit at the shoulders and waist. Seam shaping in corset-bodice dresses and the cleaner line of sheath dresses can help you compare different approaches to fit.
Shape on the same body
Coral follows the figure in a fitted column, then changes its outline when a separate overskirt is attached. That makes a useful fitting-room comparison: the bodice remains, but the visible line through the hips changes. Neither label predicts comfort for every person; assess the particular size, seams and alterations with a retailer.
