Depth and finish of the V
Il Scollo a V draws a downward point at the center front. A shallow V remains close to the collarbone; a deeper one gives the bodice a longer visual line. Straps, sleeves and seam placement can emphasize or soften that point.
The center line and sheer inserts
Some gowns use a sheer insert in the opening; others have a clean uninterrupted edge. The depth and finish change how open the upper bodice appears. The V describes the neckline rather than the silhouette below it, so weigh the upper shape alongside the cut of the skirt. For a softer center dip, compare sweetheart-neck wedding dresses.
Different ways to form the point
Rouge carries a V shape within a halter satin sheath, while Helga makes its plunging V through floral lace and a sheer illusion insert above a full skirt. One makes the point through smooth drape; the other layers it with pattern and transparency. Rouge’s smooth satin drape and Helga’s transparent lace frame create very different expressions of the same pointed neckline.
