How a halter frames the shoulders
A halter brings straps or fabric toward the neck, leaving more of the outer shoulders visible. It can rise high across the chest or open into a deeper front shape. The back may be closed, open or tied, so the rear view is an important part of the design.
Connection at the neck and back
See where the straps meet at the neck and how they continue across the back. That connection influences the silhouette and fastening, which vary by gown. The back opening, strap width and fastening shape the result differently from gown to gown. Because the straps lead toward the rear, compare open-back wedding dresses as well.
Two satin halter approaches
Rouge shapes a V-neck halter above a narrow sheath or slip line. Ricci uses a higher halter neckline with satin and a more fitted mermaid profile. Both lead fabric toward the neck, but their front coverage and lower silhouettes differ. View the fastening and back treatment on each gown rather than assuming one standard halter construction.
